WebP & AVIF Image Converter

WebP is an image format developed by Google that provides superior compression. WebP images are typically 25-35% smaller than equivalent JPEG images with the same visual quality. It supports both lossy and lossless compression, as well as transparency.

AVIF (AV1 Image File Format) is a newer image format based on the AV1 video codec. It offers even better compression than WebP, typically 30-50% smaller than JPEG. While browser support is growing rapidly, it may not work in older browsers.

For maximum compatibility, use WebP - it works in all modern browsers. For the smallest file sizes and you can provide a fallback, use AVIF. Many sites use both with the HTML picture element for best results.

At 85% quality (our default), you typically cannot see any difference from the original. For photos, even 75-80% quality looks great. For images with text or sharp edges, use higher quality (90-100%) or lossless mode.
